3 Things To Do When It Feels Like You Don't Have Time To Job Hunt

Jun 26, 2025

“I don’t have time to look for a job.”

I hear this sometimes...

From people who’ve been on the job hunt for a while.

And I get it.

You’re working. Parenting. Healing. Surviving.

Job hunting feels like a full-time job you can’t clock in for.

So let’s reframe the problem.

Because this isn’t about time.

It’s about power.

Here are 3 things you can do when it feels like you don’t have time to job hunt: 👇

⏳ 1. Make time obey you.
You don’t find time. You make it.
Your current job already owns your calendar 📆.

Sometimes, I see people cancel coaching calls…
to accommodate the job they’re trying to leave 🤯.

That’s not time management.

That’s a trap.

It’s like spending nickels to save pennies 💸.

You’re teaching your brain that the thing you don’t want
deserves more respect than the thing you do.

🔁 2. Call out the fear behind the “busy”.
Too busy to apply? Or too scared to get rejected? 😰

Too overwhelmed… or afraid of change?

Let’s be honest — sometimes “busy” is a refuge.

Because as long as we’re breathing, the brain says:
Don’t rock the boat. Stay safe. Stay put.

Change feels risky.

Even if stuck is slowly drowning you.

Naming the fear? That’s step one.

3. Start with 10 minutes.
You already spend time scrolling job boards 📱.
Dreading Mondays 😩.
Venting about work 🍷.

That’s not free. That’s emotional payroll.

You’re paying in stress, energy, and self-worth.

Don’t wait for 10 free hours.

Start with 10 minutes of intention:
Message someone 🤝.
Edit a bullet ✍️.
Follow up 💬.

Momentum doesn’t need a marathon.
It starts with a rep.

TL;DR
You don’t need more time.
You can take ownership of the time you’ve got.

If job hunting matters…
make space for it like it does.
