Irreplaceable
Sep 17, 2024π§ The very best leaders...
πΌ Those that get THE MOST stuff done...
π― Those that create the GREATEST impact...
π Are actually kind of bored... because they hand off pretty much everything.
π Great leaders delegate A LOT.
π I'M SO BORED
Fun exercise: take out whatever you have that's the closest thing to a daily to-do list. π Look at every item and ask yourself: Is this something only I can do, or could I delegate it to somebody else? π€
During this first pass, there's a good chance you'll say, "Oh no, I'm the ONLY one that can do THAT" π€ to most things on the list.
π Go back. Do it again.
πͺ BE RUTHLESS
If god-forbid you got flattened by a runaway steamroller tomorrow ππ, who could do things on the list if you suddenly assumed the shape of a pancake? π₯
π Uh-huh...good...now go back again.
β What are you forgetting to put on the list? What have you been doing for so long you don't even think about it anymore? Who could do THAT? π§
Maybe it's somebody that already works with you π€, maybe it's somebody you could hire. π΅οΈ Whatever the case, what can you jettison so the only thing that's left on your list are the one or two really important things only you can do? π―
π₯RADICAL DELEGATION
When you're RUTHLESS about delegating...here are five awesome things that will happen:
1οΈβ£ Your staff will have more opportunities to learn, grow, and level up π±. The reason you're so capable now is because someone believed in you. π¦ΈβοΈ Believe in your people; they can do stuff, too! π
2οΈβ£ You'll discover hidden talents π€―. There are likely things others can do better than you. Delegation lets you unlock their potential! π
3οΈβ£ You’ll break the bottleneck. β When you're the only one doing a task, you are the bottleneck. Don't be the limiting factor! π
4οΈβ£ You build redundancy. π‘οΈ The whole operation doesn’t grind to a halt if, god forbid, you get flattened by that steamroller. ποΈ
5οΈβ£ You'll make a bigger impact π by focusing on the things that truly matter. π
π WE COULD NEVER REPLACE HER, SHE DOES SO LITTLE
Sometimes leaders hesitate to delegate because they think: "If I delegate, then I won’t be needed!" π€·
They think: "The only reason they keep me around is BECAUSE I do it all!" ποΈβοΈ
And that’s a thought error β.
Because leaders are evaluated by the results they create π, NOT by how many people helped them create those results.
Be there for your team when they get stuck π (they’ll let you know when they need help). Otherwise, trust in what they can do and let them run with it! πβοΈπ¨
π‘ Want to be truly irreplaceable? Create great results by leveraging the power that comes from delegating almost everything. π
Give it away, give it away, give it away NOW, Eric
