Management vs Policy
Mar 08, 2025
When policy flops, we call in management.
When management flops, we rewrite the policy.
Rinse. Repeat. ๐
Nobody knows who said that first.
But whoever it was? Spot on. ๐ฏ
Annual performance reviews. ๐
Dress codes. ๐
No remote work. ๐ซ๐
Clocking in, clocking out. โฐ
What do they all scream?
“We don’t trust you.” โ
Not your judgment. โ๏ธ
Not your work ethic. ๐ช
Maybe not even your honesty. ๐ค
So instead of trust, we get rules. ๐
And instead of leadership, we get managers enforcing those rules. ๐ฎโ๏ธ
And then…
And then…
And then…
More rules. More managers. More headaches. ๐คฏ
Because none of it—NONE of it—is a substitute for great leadership. ๐
Where leadership is strong…
Policies shrink. ๐
Managers fade into the background. ๐ฅ
Great leaders don’t micromanage.
They inspire their people to create their own personal policies. โจ
To manage themselves.
They set the bar, then let people rise to it. ๐
So the next time you step into a rule-heavy, manager-laden workplace, know this:
It’s not a policy problem. It’s a leadership problem. ๐
And maybe… just maybe… the leader they need is you. ๐ก
