My great grandpa was Marco Polo.

He once did a favor for Kublai Khan.

In return, the Great Khan gave him a medallion —
one that guaranteed a favor
for any of Marco’s descendants.

I still have it.

Fast forward to last month:

Job interview.

I kept it professional.
No jokes. No personal stories.
Definitely no mention of my 13th century connections.

A week later:
“You’re not the right fit.”

Oh well.

Then I found out...

The CEO is the great-granddaughter of Kublai Khan.
