Needy is Creepy

Needy Is CREEPY!

I recently attended a workshop where some amazing coaches I greatly respect (so I'm stealing this from them) reminded me that, "Needy Is Creepy!"

If you received a text from somebody you didn't know and all it said was, "I need you," that would be REALLY CREEPY.

However, that's exactly what a lot of job seekers do.

"I just wanted to check in!" Needy.

"I just wanted to follow-up!" Needy.

"I'm hoping to hear from you!" Needy AF.

Needy is creepy.

On the other hand, PERSISTENCE is admirable.

"Did you receive my message? Let me know." Persistent

"Do you still need help or can I take this off my plate?" Persistent

"If this still alive? If not, let's table it. Let me know" Persistent AF

Needy is about fear; persistence is about service.

Needy gets ignored; persistence gets admired.

During a job search you can believe 1) that you can serve them or 2) that you need them. Either way, you'll be right.

My invitation: focus WAY more on how you can serve them because, can't you?

Maybe they need you and maybe they don't and either way, you don't need them. There are LOTS of jobs out there for you, there is only one of you out there for them. You need a job; it doesn't have to be THAT job.

Instead of spending so much time and energy trying to look good for potential employers; serve them with PERSISTENCE. When you do, they will beat a path to your door.
