"We'll either find a way, or make one." – Hannibal of Carthage โš”๏ธ

One cool thing I get to do: partner with all sorts of different people to envision their future. ๐ŸŒŸ

Getting really clear about what one wants and charting a path to get there is super exciting because it's an opportunity that's available for everybody. ๐Ÿš€

TWO DOORS ๐Ÿšช๐Ÿšช

Recently, I was having a conversation with someone about possibilities for their future. ๐Ÿค”โœจ

This person was really clear about what they wanted. It was something that had eluded them for some time, and they expressed readiness to get the thing they wanted without delay. ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก

And when presented with two paths for getting what they wanted, let's call them Door A and Door B... drumroll please ๐Ÿฅ... they chose... neither. ๐Ÿคท‍โ™‚๏ธ

NEITHER โŒ

Rather than open Door A or Door B, they decided the best thing to do would be to wait and "see what happens." ๐Ÿค”โณ

See what happens?

How many of us have said that very thing? It's easy to say because, especially in the moment, it seems like such a responsible thing to say. ๐Ÿคท‍โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ญ

Maybe it feels responsible because:

๐Ÿ’ก we'll think of something we haven't thought of

๐Ÿ”ฎ there's a chance new options will appear

๐ŸŽฏ it's possible the situation will just resolve itself all on its own, and we won't have to do anything

EVERYWHERE ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“ฑ

We get constant training to just "see what happens" all the time, everywhere.

"Let's see what's on TV" ๐Ÿ“บ

"Let's see if I got a text/email" ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ“ง

"Let's see if there's something new on the internet" ๐ŸŒ

"Let's see what's on the news" ๐Ÿ“ฐ

"Let's see what happens in the stock market" ๐Ÿ“ˆ๐Ÿ’น

"Let's see if they call" ๐Ÿ“ž

When it comes from a place of curiosity, open-mindedness, and exploration, "let's see" can make a lot of sense. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿค”

On the other hand, if/when "let's see" becomes a delaying tactic, an abdication, and a safety mechanism — there's an opportunity to change "I'll see what happens" into "I'll create what happens." ๐Ÿ’ฅโœจ

DON'T WAIT, CREATE ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก

Whenever we opt for "see what happens," it puts us in a pretty passive position. ๐Ÿ˜ If we're lucky, some door might open, eventually, maybe. However, we don't know how long we'll be waiting, and we won't have any ability to choose the door that opens. ๐Ÿšช๐Ÿ”’

Alternatively, whenever we're willing to reach out, turn the knob, and open a door — any door — the possibilities become endless. ๐ŸŒˆ Even if/when we open a "wrong" door — at least we're making progress in the sense that we now know what's behind that door. ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿšถ‍โ™‚๏ธ

My encouragement for you: rather than "see what happens," create what happens. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

Produce what's on TV ๐ŸŽฌ

Send the text/email ๐Ÿ“ค

Publish something new on the internet ๐Ÿ’ปโœ๏ธ

Be on the news ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Move markets ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ“Š

Make the call โ˜Ž๏ธ

Rather than see what happens, create what happens. Be the change you seek, and watch miracles surround you. Eric๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
