🚨 The most dangerous place in the world is "fine."
FINE, NOT FINE
It's easy to think "fine" is fine because, well... that's exactly what it is.
😐 Fine is where things are ok. Not great—just okay. Nothing to complain about—lots to be grateful for.
After all, there are lots of people who aren't fine. What's wrong with settling for fine—just take what we can get?
And THAT is the trap. That is the dangerous part. 🕳️ We can spend a VERY long time being just fine because there's nothing urgently painful about it.
💤 We can be just "fine" for a long time. We can be just "fine" forever.
PLAYING NOT TO LOSE
There's an even greater incentive to stay just "fine."
See, if/when we hit rock bottom🪨 - it's easier to look toward the horizon because often, the only way to go is up! ⬆️
However, when we're fine—we have stuff to lose. A lot to lose.
🤷♂️ What if we lose our moderate happiness? 💵 Our average salary? 👨👩👧👦 The fair relationships? Our moderate health?
The safety of just maintaining what we have can be so alluring. 🛡️
PLAYING TO WIN
The thing is: we all give too much weight to the potential downside. It's a cognitive bias called "loss aversion." 🧠
We're all hardwired to overestimate the likelihood/impact of loss and underestimate the likelihood/impact of gain. ✅
It's a bias that can make staying put really appealing, and the only cost is just the rest of our lives. 💀
Sometimes, occasionally, we might hear a little voice break through that says, "You can be more."🗣️
And often, that voice is fleeting because it gets drowned out by the voice of let's just stay "fine."
BETTER THAN FINE
Here's an idea: 🤔 what do you imagine would happen if you went for MORE than just "fine"?
What might be possible for you if, instead of giving into that alluring voice of "fine," you gave the other voice a fighting chance? 💪
🌟 How many miracles could you create in your work and life if you decided that you would no longer be just "fine"?
Hope you're able to fine tune "fine" in your favor!
