Then you know the dilemma:

Two candidates walk in...

One barely qualified
One wildly overqualified 

Who do you pick?

If you're like most people, you go with the one who's barely qualified.

Why?

They've got room to grow 🌱
They'll follow your process ✅
They won't bail after 10 minutes ⏳
You don’t have to pay top dollar 💰

Now think about the overqualified candidate:
They've outgrown the role before Day 1 🗓️
They might not do the job you actually want (because: boring) 😐
They’ll bounce the moment something better comes along 🏃‍♂️
And you'll probably have to pay them more 💸

Here’s what I see all the time:

Job seeker doesn’t see many roles at their level.

So they start looking lower.

“Surely I can get that job,” they think.

They don’t - because they’re overqualified.

So they aim even lower.
And then lower again.
And again.

Until they’re applying to roles 10 rungs down…
…getting ghosted 👻
…and wondering what’s wrong with them 🤔

It’s a vicious cycle 🔄

The opportunity:

🔁 Don’t aim lower. Aim higher.

Target roles where you’re the one who’s barely qualified.

That’s how you break the spiral.

That’s how you get hired fast
