This Isn't JOE

Feb 01, 2025

Recently I talked to Joe. πŸ—£οΈ

Well, Joe isn’t his real name – and for this story, I’ll call him Joe. πŸ‘€

Joe had been working at his current company for over 27 years. πŸ’πŸ“†

Over that time, he’d been promoted to a senior position – however, not a super super senior position.

Not as senior as he thought he could be. πŸ“ˆπŸ€”

Lately, it really didn’t seem like he had a seat at the table. πŸͺ‘βŒ

There had been layoffs, and even after 27+ years, Joe feels like he might be next. πŸ˜ŸπŸ”„

Increasingly, Joe feels a little panicked. 😰

My heart goes to Joe. ❀️

Because I hear stories like this a lot. πŸ“–πŸ’¬

Usually, one of two things happen:

πŸ‘‰ The person initiates the change. They handle the situation actively. πŸ’ͺ⚑

OR

πŸ‘‰ The person waits for the change to happen. They handle the situation passively. πŸ˜“β³

The former always turns out better than the latter. βœ…

What will happen for Joe? We’ll see. πŸ‘€

After 27+ years, making a change might feel risky. 🎒

Even though not making a change is probably riskier. ⚠️🎯
