Wait A Second
May 10, 2025
300,000 years.
That’s about how long humans have been around.
And for 95% of that time?
We lived in tribes 🏹
Tight-knit. Kin-based.
Your place in the tribe meant everything.
It determined:
🍖 What you ate
🏠 Where you lived
🛡️ Your safety
🛠️ Your job
💞 Who you dated
👶 Whether you had kids
👕 How you dressed
🪑 If you had a seat at the table
📜 Whether your name lived on
Getting along wasn’t about being polite — it was survival ⚔️
Banishment = death.
Now — most of us don’t live in tribes anymore.
(Shoutout to the few that still do 🙏)
However, that wiring?
Still fully installed. 🧠
And where does it show up most today?
Work. 💼
Your boss becomes the Chief 👑
Meetings feel like tribal councils 🗣️
Getting laid off? Feels like exile 🌪️
The tribal brain kicks in — hard:
“Don’t rock the boat.” 🌊
“Don’t speak up.” 🤐
“Just stay safe.” 🫣
Reality check:
Work isn’t your tribe.
It’s just work.
You can respect your team and still leave 💬
You can like your boss and still outgrow the role ⬆️
You can love the mission and still choose yourself ❤️
There are other jobs.
Other colleagues.
Other camps. 🏕️
Don’t let your tribal brain trap you in the wrong one.
